Domestic Adoption

Domestic Adoption

Lutheran Social Services has been providing adoption services to adoptive families for more than 100 years.  Throughout the years, LSS has found hundreds of forever families for children born within the State of Wisconsin as well as nationwide.

LSS domestic adoption program connects adoptive families with birth parents who have contacted LSS seeking to make an adoption plan for their child.  Criteria for enrollment into this program is as follows:

  • Married couples - no age restrictions
  • Open to open adoption
  • Wisconsin / Upper Michigan resident

** Enrollment in this program is limited.  Please contact your nearest LSS office for a packet of information and registration form.  LSS' Domestic Agency Adoption Program offers:

For immediate information, fill out the adoptive parents online information request form.  After submitting this online form, you will receive adoption information via email and an LSS staff member will contact you within one or two business days.

  • Guidance from professional staff
  • Open Adoption
  • Confidential counseling
  • Parenting education
  • Assistance in developing a family profile

Wait Time
The wait time can often be a difficult time for prospective adoptive families.  LSS' experienced staff is able to assist families during this waiting time until placement with a child.  Because birth parents choose their adoptive family in open adoption, LSS does not have a "waiting list."  A family may be chosen soon after their home study is finished, but in most cases, it does take longer.
