PREGNANCY SERVICES

Lutheran Social Services counsels more than 350 birth parents each year regarding their unplanned pregnancies.  With the support of a trained LSS counselor, birth parents receive practical information, emotional support, and guidance as they consider the life-changing options in front of them.  Whether their decision is to parent their child or make an adoption plan, LSS continues to support birth parents throughout their pregnancy, childbirth and beyond.

Services we can help you with:

  • Confidential Counseling - Speaking with a trained counselor regarding parenting and adoption option.

  • Open Adoption - You may choose to meet with an adoptive family; exchange identifying information to remain in contact with each other and your baby; you decide the degree of openness based on your comfort level.

  • Assistance with pre-natal care - Helping to secure resources to locate and pay for a physician to follow you through your pregnancy, childbirth and beyond.

  • Housing - Assistance in obtaining a safe and secure dwelling.

  • Community Resources - Finding the needs to plan for a stable future.

  • Pre-screened prospective adoptive families - You will choose the family for your baby.  All prospective adoptive families have been screened through criminal background checks, home licensing, personal interviews with trained social workers, and extensive preparation about adoption and parenting.  You may choose to meet with them and discuss your child's adoption plan and your hopes for your baby's future.

  • Post Placement Assistance - Post adoption support and counseling will be available to you.
